According to a report from the Knoxville News Sentinel, the University of Tennessee fired the head of student judicial affairs amid a probe over relationships with the school?s athletes.
Jenny Wright, has been at Tennessee since 2001, and reportedly refused to cooperate with an investigation about whether or she had inappropriate relations with student athletes at the university. No athlete names are mentioned in the report.
Wright, while trying to avoid cooperation, attempted to quit last week, but the university refused her resignation. They fired her on Friday.
Ironically, Wright?s job description includes the following: making sure that disciplinary policies set forth in the student handbook are observed and that student rights are protected.
In her resignation letter, Wright said she had been at UT as a student worker, graduate assistant and professional staff member. She was paid $70,000 in her position. She had been with the office since 2008, according to the university.
She earned an undergraduate degree at UT and a law degree from UT?s College of Law.
Attorney Robert Kurtz said today he was retained last week after Wright learned of the investigation. Kurtz said he still doesn?t know the specifics of the allegations, but on her behalf he ?categorically denied? she had do anything improper.
Of course, not knowing the specifics and issuing a denial makes all the sense in the world. ?We plan on following this story for as long as it has legs.
The report states that her Twitter account has been deactivated, but we did a little searching and found this link?with pretty much her entire Twitter profile. Internet scrubbing takes a bit more than that.
UPDATE: According to a report, Wright had an inappropriate relationship with former basketball player Trae Golden
