Police: Driver was DWI in burning truck with no front tires

By NBCPhiladelphia.com

Drunken driving charges have been filed against a southern New Jersey man who authorities say was driving a box truck that was on fire and missing its front tires.

Lakehurst police tell the Asbury Park Press that 36-year-old Michael Newmon of Manchester was hanging partially out of the cab window because of a shattered windshield when he was stopped around 3 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities say the truck had tree branches caught in it, with fire and smoke coming from below.

Because the truck was driven on its rims, police followed the marks left in the road and traced Newmon's journey about 15 miles to the Route 70/Route 72 circle in Burlington County. They found the truck had driven across the circle, struck a tree and drove through bushes.

Tony Romo Not Playing in NFL Hall of Fame Game Isn?t a Big Deal

Tony Romo NFL: Dallas Cowboys-Training Camp

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys need as much preparation as possible for the 2013 NFL season, so on first thought, it?s easy to see why much is being made about Tony Romo not playing in the annual Hall of Fame Game. The extra preseason game gave Dallas an added week of training camp this year and one additional exhibition to use for evaluating young talent and practicing the Cowboys? new 4-3, Tampa 2 defense installed by new defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin. That?s perfect for the growing defense, but missing a handful of plays on offense isn?t going to hurt Romo.

Look, Romo isn?t a Hall of Famer but he?s also not completely worthless like many casual football fans believe. Is he worth the six-year, $108 million extension the Cowboys gave him this offseason? Probably not, but the guy would have played about five plays at the most during the Hall of Fame Game, which isn?t going to affect how he performs during the regular season one iota.

The Cowboys are obviously a complex team because of the lack of mental toughness throughout the organization that starts at the top with team owner and general manager Jerry Jones and trickles all the way down to the players. Thus, they need as much preparation as possible for every contest as previously mentioned, but four real-time minutes of action a week before the rest of the NFL starts the preseason won?t make a bit of difference for Romo, who really shouldn?t be playing anyway just to give his back another week of rest after surgery in May to remove a cyst.

So Cowboys fans, I know you?re anxious to see the team in whatever ?real game? action you can just like me, but Romo sitting out this overly-glorified exhibition is not a big deal and it?s probably for the best. Just relax and wait until the regular season starts and hope that Jason Garrett doesn?t screw this team over yet again this year.

Obama's Birthday Weekend: Golf and Terror Threat

WASHINGTON - President Obama, who turns 52 Sunday, spent today playing golf with friends at Joint Base Andrews, but before he went he was briefed on the terrorist threat that will cause 21 U.S. embassies to close Sunday.

"Before departing this morning, the president was updated on the potential threat occurring in or emanating from the Arabian Peninsula by Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Lisa Monaco. He will continue to be updated through the weekend," a White House official told reporters.

The State Department has ordered all U.S. embassies to close Sunday. Most are closed anyway on Sundays, except those in Muslim countries, meaning the closures affect 21 embassies in the Muslim world. The State Department also issued a worldwide travel alert for Americans on Friday.

He'll continue to receive updates throughout the weekend, the White House said.

After the briefing, the president's motorcade left the White House with golf clubs and at least one cooler in tow. Later, he planned to head to Camp David.

Three groups teed off at Andrews, according to a White House official, including a smattering of old friends and former colleagues. Among them were two Chicago friends, Marty Nesbitt and Eric Whitaker, the latter of which attended grad school with Obama at Harvard. So were high school friends Mike Ramos and Bobby Titcomb, who was arrested in 2011 in Honolulu on suspicion of soliciting a prostitute. The Associated Press reported that he pleaded "no contest" later that year; Obama has played golf with him at least twice since the arrest.

Former aide Reggie Love and Chicago chef Sam Kass, who has also served as a White House chef, senior policy adviser on nutrition, and executive director of Michelle Obama's Let's Move! campaign, also played.

Obama was expected to depart for Camp David in the afternoon, returning Sunday.

The presidential golf outing got cool-for-August morning temperatures accompanied by some intermittent, light drizzling rain.

Bridging loans and bridging finance - iccwest

Most people require a loan at some point in their life. There are many specific types of loans that you can choose from. However, you should be clear about the main differences between bridging loans and bridging finance, in the event you are offered either of these products.

Bridging finance is usually available to larger organisations, building contractors for instance or property developers who will get regular injections of finances from clients who have purchased properties from the developer. Thus, bridging finance can aid a developer to complete their project with easily available funds, secured against the development, while being reimbursed by clients. These loans are far less risky for the lender because the property developer or borrower will acquire a secured cash flow from customers. The lender knows that there is property acting as security against the loan which can be realised in case the borrower has difficulty repaying the loan for any reason. In addition to property developers, homeowners who have decided to sell a home and invest in a new one may do so with bridging finance also. The bank will advance the cash for a lower rate of interest than market rate to get a brand new house while they wait for the payment from selling the family home. However the time period during which the bridging loan needs to be repaid depends on the lenders terms.

A closed bridging loan http://www.financemyhouse.net, for instance, will need to be repaid in a pre-determined time frame (hence the term closed bridge), whereas an open bridging loan may have a more flexible repayment term.

Bridging loans are short term loans which are generally given to smaller clients or companies for periods ranging from a few weeks to few years. Interest rates on this type of bridging loan will be above bank rates to reflect the risk to the lender and the cost of realising the value of any assets used as security if the loan is defaulted on. There may also be a lower loan to value (LTV) on such loans in order to minimise the lenders risk. However, if you repay the bridging loan within the specified time period, you are able to close these loans in advance of the agreed term, often incurring mo exit fees.

Bridging loans have become much more popular in recent times due to the reluctance of mainstream lenders to lend to ?risky clients? post credit crunch. They are often used to solve cash flow issues, caused by a large tax bill for example, and they can be returned and closed when the issue has been resolved.

?

Masthaven? has been offering bridging loans since 1983 and the company prides itself on? its transparency. There are no hidden fees in our terms, hence the company?s? clients don?t get any nasty surprises upon completion.
